(Video link here will take you to exactly the right point.) We love Fred Rogers’ —the famed Mister Rogers’ — perfect, illuminating acceptance speech for the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 24th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards.
Rogers presents a simple 10-second practice that will shift your view, and provide you with a tool you can carry around throughout the day. (It starts at 1:27 seconds, or click the video link to go right there.)
Take 10 seconds to think about:
…the special ones who have loved us into being. Think of the people who have helped you become who you are. Those who have cared about you and wanted what was best for you in life.

I couldn’t live without this and take it one step further – whether they especially love me or not : people who are kind just for being kind , even people who are inspiring through their art, their work .
When you are around someone like this , it is truly healing . there are naturally people you resound with, they make you feel at home . i have met someone today .
For some i used to say , they are my ‘signposts’ , like what they did or said or inspired pointed me in a good direction.
Of course , this is also why ‘L.A. Story’ gives me a good laugh ..
ps . i think worked so well in the speech was that the audience was joining in ( well, at least some of them , for sure : )
