This beautiful image of wooden spoons we saw on From Moon to Moon reminded us just how much of a pleasing sculptural element they be when serving up food.
Like chairs, spoons can have very distinct personalities.
Over the years, we’ve gathered quite a collection. Many were given to us by friends who picked up the odd spoon here or there, in second-hand shops or during their travels. Unique spoons make the perfect house gift. We keep our collection in a glass on the counter because we like to look at them, and so we can grab just the right one for serving our guests or ourselves.
The odder they are, the more impact they seem to have, as though simply serving something with them employed a whole other set of senses…

Although it may not be as easy as it looks, we imagine it to be as relaxing as whittling, and hold many possibilities for improvisation, and for pushing the envelope on spoons.
