“LAYERS” is the essential strategy for achieving the right level of warmth in a dicey climate. At Balenciaga A/W18 (it’s Ready-to-Wear Collection), Art Director Demna Gvasalia took the idea a leap farther when he asked:
Why simply wear one coat or jacket when you can style 1,000 on top of one another at once?
So a team of stylists set out to play with the idea. And although some of their contrivances were just that, impossible for us mortals (check them out here)…others were compelling and doable. Like the 3-layer trench action, above: 3 trench coats in 3 colors.
Three denim jackets and a denim shirt make for a mighty beautiful effect…
And on the runway, too: Layers of coats, sweathers, skirts…
