At Cos’ blog, Things, we found this image by photographer Jill Burrow. Ah, yes, we thought, we’d love to sleep and dream surrounded by flowers, especially now, after months of guarded and circumscribed living Like a summer garden transported to our bedroom…

Looking closely, we realized that Burrow’s image gives a kind of permission because it is so unfussy and do-able. It is nothing more than everyday vin ordinaire flowers available at many markets that we could arrange, a few at a time, in whatever vessels we have: water glasses, jars, bottles, random vases…in whatever number we wish.

We were reminded of some elaborate flower arrangements we’ve been given that, when deconstructed, became way more than the sum of their simple parts.
