After reading a New Yorker article on America’s biggest selling books, —many of which are “self-help”, including The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, You Can Heal Your Life, and How to Win Friends and Influence People — I realized I’d read many of them and none helped me help myself (although plenty of other things in my life have). The long-winded advice didn’t match the promise of their titles.

Soon after at the inspired instagram @upstate-diary, I stumbled on five perfect lines of Self-help.

Yes!

Then clicking on the intriguing Have a Life in upstate_diary’s stories, I found this succinct hunk of wisdom:

Twelve lines total. Succinct. Effective. Perfect.
